Miscellaneous Experience:

§    Developed a directory monitoring application using Visual Basic.NET.  The program monitors several different directories looking for newly created files of a specified extension.  Upon detecting these files, the program calls a processing program which takes the file and performs a specified action on the file.  The program then moves the file to a processed directory and continues to monitor the original directory.

§    Developed a calendar application using Visual Basic.NET and third party controls.  The application emulates Microsoft’s Outlook.  The application accesses a SQL database to gather company-specific data to form custom appointments that appear on a calendar interface.

§    Assisted as a developer on converting an ASP web application over to .NET technology using Net Tiers code generation software, Visual Source Safe, Visual C#, ASP.NET, JavaScript, and SQL Server 2005.  The database contained over 60 tables, 450 files, 200 stored procedures and views, and over 300,000 lines of code.  Development was based on use-cases that were created from user requirements.

§    Developed an RSS feed for the PA House of Representatives - Democratic Caucus.  Installed the RSS feed generator as a Windows Service that updates the RSS feed at set intervals.

§    Developed a request tracking web application that allows users to enter requests made by State Representatives for such things as grants, office requests, IT requests, staff and salary, parking, and other miscellaneous requests.  Users can enter a request by entering in basic information about the request and also attach documents to them by browsing their PC, selecting a document, and then uploading the document.  The user can also remove these attached documents as well.  The application allows them to create custom reports and print these reports.

§    Developed a publication ordering system similar to an eCommerce site.  The front end of the application used its own customer login system rather than Windows Integrated Security and included a shopping cart and checkout features.  I also implemented an admin side to the application as well which allowed the department which received the orders to update the orders with real-time status, create a work-orders and maintain workflows for each order, as well as maintain the publications offered and the attributes such as category, title, and subject of the publications.  The admin side also allowed the admin roles to maintain values found in the dropdown boxes on the front-end ordering system as well as add, deactivate, and activate user accounts.  I created the database, stored procedures, functions, and views using Microsoft SQL 2005.  The presentation tier, business tier, and data tier were developed using C# and ASP.NET 2.0 technology.

§    Recently began SharePoint development with Web Parts and .aspx pages in SharePoint
